The Gospel of Tuesday, August 18, 2026 - Saints Floros and Laurus - Vima Orthodoxias

Gospel: ACCORDING TO MARK 1:16–22 – 16 Walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 17 And Jesus said to them, 'Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.' 18 And immediately, leaving their nets, they followed Him. 19 Moving on a little further, He saw James the son of Zebedee and John his brother, also in the boat mending their nets, 20 and immediately He called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants and followed Him. 21 Then they entered Capernaum; and immediately, entering the synagogue on the Sabbath, He taught. 22 And they were astonished at His teaching, for He taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.

ACCORDING TO MARK 1:16–22

16 And while walking beside the Sea of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, casting a net into the sea, because they were fishermen and this was their work. 17 And Jesus said to them, 'Follow Me as My disciples, and I will make you fishers of men, whom you will draw into the kingdom of heaven with the net of the divine preaching.' 18 And immediately, after they left their nets, they followed Him.

19 And when He proceeded a little further from there, He saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who were also in the boat preparing the nets. 20 And immediately He called them. And they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired laborers and followed Him. 21 And they enter into Capernaum. And immediately, upon his arrival on the Sabbath, He entered the synagogue and taught.

22 And they marveled greatly at His teaching, because He did not seek to support what He said with the testimonies of recognized rabbis, as the scribes did, but taught as a teacher who received knowledge of the truth directly from His divinity, and He Himself was the valid and authentic source of the truth.
