Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ has expressed his condolences following the devastating earthquake in Colombia, which caused significant loss of life, injuries and widespread destruction.
In a message addressed to Colombian President Abelardo Gabriel de la Espriella Otero, the Patriarch said he had learned “with deep sorrow” of the consequences of the powerful earthquake.
“Many people have lost their lives or been injured as a result of the natural disaster, while others remain missing or trapped under the rubble,” Patriarch Kirill said.
The Patriarch expressed his sympathy to all those who lost relatives, loved ones and friends in the disaster, asking the Colombian President to convey to them his words of comfort and support.
“In these difficult days for the Colombian people, I sincerely share the grief of all those who have lost their relatives, loved ones and friends in this tragedy,” he stated.
