Incorrupt relics of St. Dmitry Donskoy discovered in Kremlin cathedral

… Christ the Savior Cathedral and other churches around Moscow.

On August 18, Patriarch Kirill served a moleben at the newly uncovered relics. In an address to those gathered, he called St. Dmitry “a great saint of our land and a great ruler” and asked the faithful to pray that the prince “intercede for our land, for our fatherland.” The Patriarch also prayed for unity among the Russian people, saying such unity is what carried the country through its hardest historical trials.

Following the moleben, Patriarch Kirill approached the open sarcophagus along the cathedral’s south wall and venerated the relics. Once the restoration work concludes, the sarcophagus will be closed and the crypt returned to its original condition.
